In praise of not praising too much

I think I praise my daughters too much. Well done, you put the wee in the potty, that's great, you closed the drawer.

    I don't believe in not praising kids. I agree that plain old "good job" sucks - because it's the same as "yeah, now go do something else and leave me alone". But if something my child does deserves a praise (as I think) - I will say so, and will point out what exactly I liked.

    And anyway, I reckon it's way too early to stop praising kids as young as yours or mine.

    But I wish you luck in whatever you choose to do anyway :)
